Web Development

Ignyte was asked to design and develop six webpages for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) Product Management Resource Guide. Using Sketch, I utilized VA branding and ensured 508 compliance for our mockups. Once approved, I assisted with the translation into html/css before delivering to the client.

Marketing: VA Health API

For the Departments of Veteran’s Affairs, Ignyte was asked to assist with the marketing for the VA health API. Using Adobe InDesign, I created a step-by-step flyer, and using Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects, I created a step-by-step video. These deliverables were utilized by the VA team to provide their veteran users with a guide to assist them in access their public health records.

Usability Testing

The Department of Veterans Affairs conducted user tests on the new offering to let veterans access their VA health data on the Apple Health App. The test was conducted remotely over a two-day period, with eight participants in fifteen-minute sessions.

The objective of this research is to gather information about the accuracy of information and the responsiveness of the system. More specifically, we want to ensure that the:

  1. Veteran is able to sign in to the iPhone’s Health app and view their healthcare information

  2. Healthcare information is accurate

  3. System loads up the aggregated health record within a reasonable amount time (~3 seconds)

Our protocol examined users familiarity with their iPhone, including the Apple Health App and the sign-in interface. The veterans were tasked to sign into the VA API with their preferred sign-in method and confirm the accuracy of their health information.

Out of the tasks, all were conducted smoothly, except for one, in which most users experienced difficulty signing-in, specifically when re-verifying their log-in/identity. This prolonged the testing process for intensive troubleshooting, ultimately leading few users to rank the testing process as difficult.

Based on our objectives, veterans were successfully able to view their accurate health information and the system was able to load the records within the reasonable time. Although some users experienced difficulty in initially signing into their iPhone health app, most veterans were still likely to recommend the API to other veterans as an accessible way to find their health records.
